borders run
23rd august 2015

When the sun is out and you are heading for Scotland you know it is going to be a fantastic biking day. Fewer than expected turned up. Maybe it was the early start or the distance we would be covering, but those who came were in for a treat.
Moffat was the real start of the borders run and our breakfast stop at Rumblin' Tum. A brief stop at Grey Mares Tail, a 60m high waterfall, before moving on to Tagyu Samye Ling Tibetan Buddhist Monastry, Eskdalemuir in South West Scotland, 15 miles from Lockerbie. A most unexpected sight. Due to our extended stay the next loop was shortened for our return to Moffat and eventually home. The roads are truly magnificent and we hope that more will join us in 2016.

tan hill run
26th april 2015

After a very wet Cumbria ride we needed a dry day for our trip to the highest inn in England, The Tan Hill Inn. It started off cold but bright so we had an early breakfast to allow the temperature to rise. In beautiful sunny weather we made our way via Kilnsey and Kettlewell before turning left at Buckden through the Yorkshire Dales to Hawes. Then it was through the Buttertubs Pass and a single track road across the moor (or is it fell) to arrive at the Tan Hill. Unfortunately the Morris Minor Owners Club run had just made it before us, followed by 2 Landrovers. Our group was followed by a couple of cars and another group of bikes. Not only did we have a long convoy of vehicles along a single track road but one of the Morris Minors couldn’t make the hill causing further chaos. Pandemonium! We made it to a very crowded inn but decided to carry on to Reeth for refreshments. The ride back was on some very familiar Yorkshire roads that are such a joy to travel. One more stop for drinks and reflection on the days ride, in Grassington, before heading home. It was a very good all-round club outing. Hope to see you next time.

clocks run
29th March 2015

The day started off cold and wet but did dry out in the afternoon just in time for the run through Kirkstone Pass.
The road up the west coast of Cumbria is a fantastic run but the stop at St Bees was an opportunity to dry out and warm up before moving on to the start of the Pass.
